Commissioner Shay Lewis-Sisco

Commissioner Shay Lewis-Sisco is a Community Leader, Life & Career Coach, and the founder of Maryland Parents Supporting Parents (MDPSP) and WOW Inspired. Here beautiful melody that moves to the rhythm of service through education, empowerment, and civic engagement. She is honored to share the journey with her husband, Junebug, and their four children, Jairyn, Jakayla, Harlem, and Harmonie. 

She is a full-time Career Coach for Dorchester County Public Schools. Her service impact on education is also highlighted in her former roles as a Character Counts Coach, Sandy Hill Parent Advisory Council member, participant in DCPS District Parent Engagement for Title I Schools, Chesapeake College Student Life Liaison, and Multicultural Advisory Committee Member. 

Her voice has resonated in various forums, including the 2019 DCPS Community Forum on the Kirwan Commission, Moving Dorchester Forward with the Maryland State Department of Education State Superintendent, and Omeakia Jackson Harvesting Hope Youth & Family Services Youth Expo as the facilitator of a Parent Engagement Session. Board service includes the State of Maryland: AFSCME Council 3 Local 3641, bargaining & negotiation committee, For All Seasons Inc Board of Directors, and current city appointee to the Cambridge Waterfront Development Inc (CWDI) board serving as the board Vice President until Dec 31, 2024. 

Shay takes pride in holistic development, leading to one of her most recent accomplishments of graduating from Leadership Maryland's Inaugural Emerging Leader Program on Dec 3, 2024. She is also pursuing her graduate studies in Career Technical Education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Shay holds a B.S. in Psychology/Political Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus and an A.A.S. in Behavioral Health Sciences from Chesapeake College.
