Climb aboard the Kalmar Nyckel for a unique hands-on experience of adventure and education, hauling lines, singing chanteys or simply enjoying the sail. Discover the remarkable story behind this magnificent full-scale replica of the armed merchant ship that founded New Sweden (now Delaware) in 1638.

Kalmar Nyckel is returning to Cambridge after more than a decade, and is excited to connect with the maritime traditions and beautiful Cambridge facilities on the Eastern Shore,” notes Cathy Parsells, Executive Director of the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation.

The weekend schedule begins with afternoon and evening sails on Friday, June 14 from 1-3:30 p.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday sails are 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 5-7:30 p.m. Sunday sails are planned at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  Picnics and beverages are welcome (no glass containers except wine bottles permitted). Check times and buy tickets online at www.KalmarNyckel.org/BookASail.asp, or call the Kalmar Nyckel Foundation office at (302) 429-7447.  Sailing tickets are $60 for adults and $40 for youth under age 17.

Kalmar Nyckel is an authentic seagoing re-creation of a 17th century Dutch-built armed merchant ship. Captain Lauren Morgens and her volunteer crew stand ready to create an exciting experience for the whole family.
