The City of Cambridge planning department has released preliminary conceptual designs of the proposed Cannery Park produced by landscape design firm Parker Rodriguez after community meetings held in conjunction with project partners Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Cross Street Partners and Dorchester County.
The first design was developed using themes focused on the site’s history as a cannery of local produce, as well as an internationally-prominent producer of K- and C-rations, and more recent industrial uses. The second design utilizes natural elements native to the Eastern Shore to create a more fluid design. The third design is geometric using paths to or accenting focal points.
Each design has programmed elements, such as volleyball, a skate park, playground, natural child play space, a dog park and active or passive recreation. Refinements to the preliminary designs will continue utilizing public input from the meetings and the Cannery Park Feedback Form, which can be forwarded to City Planner Pat Escher at pescher@choosecambridge.com. For more information, or to give input for consideration, please contact the Department of Public Works at (410) 228-1955 before February 5.
