[ARCHIVED] Snow Route Parking Restrictions, School Closure

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Dorchester County. which will remain in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday, January 4. This storm has the potential for 4-8 inches of snow and gusting winds exceeding 35 miles per hour. Dorchester County Public Schools are closed. Please continue monitoring your local weather stations and the National Weather Service for updates.

1.4 Main PointsDorchester County and the City of Cambridge have staff maintaining roads, but the gusting conditions will continue to make road conditions hazardous. City offices are still open, with a Liberal Leave Policy in place for city employees.

The Maryland State Highway Administration has placed Dorchester County under its Snow Emergency Plan protocol. Any vehicles on the road must be equipped with all-weather/snow tires or be equipped with chains. The Snow Emergency Plan also prohibits parking on snow emergency routes. It is urged that cars on these routes consider alternate parking locations. The following streets shall be classified as snow emergency routes, and parking shall be restricted:

Academy Street, from Gay Street to Washington Street, both sides.

Aurora Street, from Maryland Avenue to the hospital emergency entrance, west side.

Bayly Road, from Race Street to the city line, both sides.

Boundary Avenue, from Goodwill Road to Stone Boundary Road, both sides.

Cedar Street, from Pine Street to Crusader Road, south side.

Crusader Road, from U.S. Route 50 to Roselin Avenue, both sides.

Dorchester Avenue, from Washington Street to Maryland Avenue, both sides.

Fairmount Avenue, from Rigby Avenue to High Street, north side.

Gay Street, from High Street to Spring Street, both sides.

Glasgow Street, from High Street to the city line, north side.

Glenburn Avenue, from Hambrooks Avenue to Glasgow Street, neither side.

Goodwill Avenue, from Goodwill Road to Appleby Avenue, both sides.1.4 Impacts
