 Cambridge    Temporary

  Maryland                             Juvenile Curfew

The City of Cambridge has adopted a Temporary Juvenile Curfew. This Curfew will go into effect

Wednesday February 1, 2023 and will expire June 30, 2023

What does this mean?

Who does this apply to?

Juveniles who are under 16

What are the curfew hours?

Sunday-Thursday

10:00pm-5:00am

Friday-Saturday

11:00pm-5:00am

How is this being enforced?

Police officers are first focused on educating: At first contact, officers will issue a juvenile under 16 a written warning and explain the curfew. A letter from the Chief of Police will be sent to the parent/guardian. At second contact the police officer will make notification to the parents and the juvenile may be transported to the Public Safety Building for the parent to take custody of the juvenile. Civil fines will then begin.

Are there exceptions? Yes

  • When a juvenile is accompanied by parent

  • When juvenile is on an errand as directed by the parent until 12:30 am

  • When juvenile is exercising First Amendment rights such as free exercise of religion, freedom of speech, and right of assembly

How do I find more information?

For a List of exceptions

We would recommend parents to read Ordinance No. 1207 Juvenile Curfew
