Council Goal Setting Session Postponed Due to Unavoidable Conflicts
Cambridge, MD (January 3, 2023). The Commissioners of Cambridge had scheduled an annual goal setting session for Saturday, January 7th at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge. Because multiple community leaders have been unexpectedly and unavoidably called out of town this weekend, the goal setting session will be postponed to a date yet-to-be determined.
City Manager Tom Carroll noted, “It is crucial for any municipal goal setting session to have every appointed and elected leader attend. Goal setting shapes our priorities and projects for the upcoming budget and capital planning process, a process starting in late February.”
Carroll explained that the City of Cambridge’s next fiscal year begins on July 1, 2023, and that the staff work to draft the recommended 2023-24 Budget and Capital Improvement Program begins about three months before the draft budget is submitted to the Commissioners of Cambridge. Drafting the recommended budget with the benefit of a goal setting session greatly streamlines the planning process.
He added, “Fortunately, we have an extra month built into our schedule to accommodate this unavoidable postponement.”
The City of Cambridge will provide additional notice and details about the rescheduled goal setting session when details are known. The goal setting session is open to the public and will be held in Cambridge for the convenience of residents wishing to attend and observe the policy deliberations.
City Council’s next regularly scheduled meeting will be held as scheduled at 305 Gay Street starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 9th. The agenda and Council packet for the January 9th meeting will be posted on-line at the usual time this Friday.
