Six Candidates File to Run For Cambridge Mayor for August 23rd Special Election.

Cambridge, MD (July 27, 2022). Six residents of Cambridge have submitted the necessary documents to appear on the ballot to fill the unexpired term of Cambridge Mayor for a special election to be held on Tuesday, August 23rd. The six candidates who will appear on the ballot are:

• Laurel E. Atkiss
• LaShon M. Banks-Foster
• Addie C. Eckardt
• Robert S. Larimer
• Steve W. Rideout
• Lee L. Travers III

The Cambridge Commissioners called for a special election on June 27th to fill the unexpired term of the previous mayor who resigned in January. The unexpired term of the mayor lasts through 2025.

In person voting will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Chesapeake College Cambridge Center located at 418 Race Street. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on August 23rd. Registered voters may also request an absentee ballot by visiting the City of Cambridge’s website at: https://www.choosecambridge.com/DocumentCenter/View/2056/2022-SpecialElection---Absentee-Ballot-Request

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, then the two candidates receiving the most votes will proceed to run-off election to be held on September 20, 2022.
