[ARCHIVED] Snow Emergency Declared for Cambridge

Cambridge Mayor Lajan Cephas-Bey issued a snow emergency declaration on Sunday, February 22, 2026. According to the declaration, because the city is projected to receive beginning today and ending Monday, February 23, 2026 approximately 13-16 inches of wet snow that will make vehicular travel conditions dangerous and difficult, the Mayor deemed it necessary and appropriate to declare a snow emergency. This will be in effect from 2 pm Sunday, February 22 until noon Monday, February 23.

Declaring a snow emergency means the following:
  • Director of Public Works Wayne Suggs is responsible for the plowing and removal of snow.
  • Chief Todd will be responsible for the movement of traffic and the removal of vehicles from snow emergency routes.
  • The prohibition for parking on snow emergency routes is effective 2 pm Sunday, February 22, 2026.
  • The City, its agents, servants and employees are empowered to do all lawful acts and implement all lawful procedures considered necessary to prevent and alleviate the effects of the snow emergency.
