A native of Cambridge and a graduate of Cambridge-South Dorchester High School, Lajan has a deep passion for wanting to see Cambridge thrive. The League of Women Voters report known as “1969 Housing Report of Cambridge and Dorchester County” found fifty years later, fueled her devotion for wanting better housing for the residents of Cambridge. She was and still is dedicated to encouraging a decent and safe standard of living for all residents.
Lajan attended Salisbury University straight out of high school and later found a niche for business. For thirteen years she established a career for herself in business management, sales and collections which allowed her to travel across the USA. She eventually found herself back at home in Cambridge to settle in. At one time she owned a small transportation company in Cambridge that she later sold.
Council President Cephas is a graduate of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy specializing in Corrections. She was a Correctional Officer Drill Instructor at the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy at Wor-Wic Community College and was employed as a Correctional Officer for the Dorchester County Detention Center. While at the Detention Facility she was an Assistant Shift Supervisor with a ranking of Corporal.
Enjoying spending time with the love of her life Davion and their children, is the highlight of every day. The family is also involved in community initiates and their favorite family past time is being an extra set of hands for whom ever. You are likely to see the family during community clean-ups, shoveling snow or passing out care boxes of food. Lajan believes in random acts of caring because it is the most unexpected and possibly the most needed.
